Shri Kali Ashram is a unique Shaiva-Shakta ashram focused on sharing and preserving the traditional spiritual science of Tantra Yoga. In accordance with traditional Shaiva-Shakta Tantric perspectives, our courses encourage students or sādhakas to live to their full potential and celebrate life.

We are located in Galgibaga, also known as Turtle Beach—a quiet coastal village in South Goa. Many people ask why we aren't based in one of the better known yoga hubs—such as Rishikesh or Mysore. Very simply, we find the setting in Galgibaga to be superior. The people don't hassle and are friendly. The weather hovers at 30°C / 80°F year-round, and the ecologically preserved sea turtle habitat (which gives it the name Turtle Beach)—with forested hills rising above an isolated beach over a kilometer long—is hard to match.

Tantric culture involves the practice of all aspects of yoga (āsana, mantra, yantra, puja [rituals - including sexuality], kuṇḍalinī, chakras, dhyāna (meditation), dhāraṇā, samādhi, and Āyurvedic walking massage). Shri Kali Ashram teaches that the world's spiritual heritage has been preserved for thousands of years in many volumes of sacred texts, which provide a rich and complete resource for those who are initiated in the science of reading them. We emphasize the use of these traditional texts to eliminate any subjective misinterpretations.

Tantra Yoga (Kaula)

The Tantra Yoga taught at Shri Kali Ashram is different from that taught in any other school. Unlike the yoga found in contemporary yoga schools, Tantra Yoga at Shri Kali is not based on mere physicality. We do not see a yogi as a set of muscles and bones which need to be pulled into android-like positions. We teach āsanas from a timeless tantric formula based on the subtle energy system. Due to the richness of the tradition, our students master their āsanas in a fraction of the time of any other yoga school. Learn More»

Our courses build a thorough understanding of all aspects of Shaiva-Shakta Tantra and Yoga. These courses lead to a complete personal practice and allow one to share this tradition as a tantric teacher. We encourage students to come for long-term study of Shaiva-Shakta Tantra (Kaula system) in order to experience life to the fullest (Dharma, Artha, Kāma and Mokṣa).

For yoga teachers, we offer Yoga Alliance® certified teacher's training courses for the 200 and 500 Hours Registered Yoga Teacher™ certifications.

The 200 Hour, four week intensive course, provides a sound understanding of the traditional āsana and anatomy systems of Tantra Yoga. This understanding gives a solid base from which one can teach and forms a firm foundation for further study. While some of the concepts of Shaiva-Shakta Tantra and Yoga cannot be fully explored in this time, participants will experience the beauty of this culture and be able to share a complete āsana and prāṇāyāma practice with others.

Our 500 Hour course offers intensive study and practice of Tantra Yoga. In this time, one has the opportunity to thoroughly study the āsana system as well as acquire an understanding of prāṇāyāma, meditation and the ideology which goes along with this traditional system. This is a three month course which can be condensed to two months in accordance with individual needs.

For those with less time, we also offer workshops and retreats designed to give you the experience of living tantric culture.
